About

Rising Match Report is an independent-minded football publication about the ideas and contests that shape a fixture. It is for readers who enjoy looking beyond the scoreline, whether they follow one team closely or want a clearer way into a match.

What we cover

Our focus is the match before and during play: team shape, tactical choices, key duels, fixture context and recurring patterns. We favour evergreen explanations and previews that give readers useful questions to carry into a game, rather than claims to know its outcome.

Who it is for

You do not need a coaching vocabulary to read Rising Match Report. We explain terms in context and make room for different levels of familiarity, from the curious viewer learning to spot a press to the regular fan comparing how two sides use the same space.

How we approach a match

We separate observation from prediction. A formation label is a starting point, not a complete account of how a team plays; a matchup is a question, not a guaranteed result. We aim to make the reasoning visible and avoid presenting speculation as certainty.
