Rising Match Report welcomes pitches that help readers see a football match more clearly. We are interested in original, well-scoped ideas grounded in careful observation, thoughtful explanation or useful historical context.

What to pitch

Propose a distinct subject within team shape, key duels, match context, tactical choices or match patterns. A strong pitch names the reader’s question, explains the central idea and shows how the piece will answer it without relying on a predicted result or a list of familiar talking points.

What makes a strong contribution

We value precise language, a clear line of reasoning and examples that genuinely illuminate the subject. Explain specialised terms, distinguish evidence from interpretation and flag any relevant interests. Avoid unsupported claims, recycled match commentary and promises that a tactic always produces the same outcome.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page. Choose the editorial question option and include a working title, a short outline, why the idea suits Rising Match Report and any relevant writing samples or links in the message itself. A proposal is not a commission; please wait for a reply before sending a full draft.
